Virat Kohli came into existence on 5th Nov, 1988 in Delhi India. He was born in a Punjabi family and he is the younger son of Prem Kohli and Saroj Kohli followed by one sister and one brother named Vikash Kohli and Bhawna. He was brought up in Uttam Nagar and he started his education at Vishal Bharti Public School.

His family noted his remarkable passion for cricket from a very young age. At just three years old, he would grab a cricket bat, display his natural talent, and urge his father to bow to him. In 1998, the West Delhi Cricket Academy (WDCA) was established. On May 30th of that year, Prem Kohli, recognizing his younger son’s fervor for cricket, facilitated nine-year-old Kohli’s dreams by arranging a meeting with Rajkumar Sharma, who initially perceived him as just another enthusiastic young boy.

However, Sharma was quickly impressed by Kohli’s precision and power in his throws. With the encouragement of their neighbors, Kohli’s father contemplated enrolling his son in a professional cricket academy, believing that his cricketing abilities deserved more than just playing in local street matches.

Despite his talents, Kohli faced challenges in securing a spot in the under-14 Delhi team, not due to lack of skill, but due to external factors. Despite offers to place his son in influential clubs, which would have guaranteed his selection, Prem Kohli declined these offers. He determined that Kohli should earn recognition based on his own merit and rise above the nepotism and corruption that sometimes plagued the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA).

Kohli persevered and eventually earned his place in the under-15 Delhi team. He received training at the academy while also participating in matches at the Sumeet Dogra Cricket Academy in Vasundhara Enclave. According to Sharma’s recollections of Kohli’s early days at his academy, he displayed exceptional talent, often making it difficult for the coach to rein in his enthusiasm.

Kohli was always ready to bat, and Sharma sometimes had to coax him to leave the training sessions. Dedicated to advancing his cricket career, Kohli switched to Saviour Convent School during his ninth-grade education. In his earlier life, he had a strong passion for cricket; he covered long distances for a match with his father.

On December 18, 2006, Kohli faced a significant personal loss when his father passed away from a cerebral attack. During his childhood, his father had played a pivotal role in supporting his cricket training, driving him to practice daily. He seemed to mature overnight and began taking every cricket match seriously. He developed a strong aversion to being excluded from games and appeared to pour his entire being into the pursuit of cricket.
